Holiday Devotion

It’s all about Jesus
In case you have not noticed I think it is important to let you know that the Holiday season has officially come upon us. It seems like yesterday I was sitting in my office looking outside the window with the air conditioner blowing, thinking to myself,” I can’t wait until fall gets here.” Well, fall has officially been here for some while now and we are coming up on what seems to be another cold Midwest Winter.
Thanksgiving has come and gone, all of the crazy “Black Friday” madness has passed and we are now cruising right into Christmas. Beautiful lights are being hung and Christmas Carrols are being played around the clock. You can feel the level of anticipation rising as each day passes, as we get closer to the “Big Day”.
I must admit that I love this time of year. I enjoy everything that comes with it, (except the large crowds when I go shopping). This is the time of year that has the potential to bring out the best in a lot of people.
But as I have grown older I have noticed that the Christmas season is kind of like a big “Firework”. There is a lot of anticipation and waiting for the “Big Day” to finally arrive and then it comes, everyone’s excited and then, “BOOM” just like that it’s over. There is that big Bang with “ewe’s and awe’s”, and then it’s all over until next year.
So here is my point, let’s all do our very best to enjoy this time of year, but for the right reason. This month we celebrate that our Father in Heaven allowed His son to be born on this earth in order to fulfill His plan for creation. Jesus Christ, becoming man so to make a way for all of us to be re-united and brought back into right relationship with God, our Father.
It is not about the shopping, the caroling, or opening presents. It’s all about Jesus! It is my prayer that this statement, “It’s all about Jesus” shows through the way that we live our lives, not just this month, but every month, every week, every day and every moment we live.
“For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior who is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:11
I pray that God will richly bless, watch over you and keep each of you safe this Holiday season. We love you and are so thankful for you and all you do for us.
Pastor, T.
